The DBX-88 ECO has a built-in ECO function, which means that if there is no sound from the baby unit, it will disconnect. As soon as there is sound from the baby unit, the connection will be re-established and you may miss the first sounds.

To ensure that the unit has a constant connection, you can set the sensitivity to maximum, then the ECO will be off and the connection will remain constant.

Note that the unit will use more power then, because there is a constant connection.
